Loco7 will begin the exploration of a new work delving into themes linked to the natural environment, aiming to shed light on the interconnectedness between humans and animals while showcasing the beauty and fragility of our shared world. The aim is to evoke conceptual images that delve deep into the heart of human displacement and the conservation of endangered animal species. Through our work, we seek to highlight the intricate relationship between the natural environment and its impact on the animal kingdom and human condition.

Headwaters Music + Arts Festival

Headwaters Arts Center 66 Main Street, Stamford, NY

Loco7 will showcase an excerpt derived from projects developed during the residency, emphasizing the profound interconnectedness between the natural world and its influence on both wildlife and humanity. Our performances are scheduled for four showings spread across the day at different spots along the street within the Festival.

Moreover, we are excited to host a puppet crafting station, inviting festival-goers to participate in creating basic paper puppets depicting the transformative journey from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

This annual street party showcases local musicians, artists, and performers along Stamford’s historic Main Street. Enjoy a kaleidoscope of sound and color and be inspired to create and collaborate with family, neighbors and friends. Map and schedule to be posted here. Sponsored by the Mountain Eagle.

Loco7 is excited to collaborate with Camp Feathers in a Notebook by facilitating a shadow puppet workshop led by Teaching Artist Christina Hunt Wood. During these interactive sessions, we aim to intertwine our children's series "The Adventures of Seucy and Boto" with artistic exploration and nature appreciation. These family-friendly gatherings are a creative adaptation of mythological tales from the Amazon Jungle, serving as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding the environment and fostering a deep respect for the diverse ecosystem. Join us in discovering the beauty of the rainforest and the significance of friendship in preserving its splendor.

Shadow Puppets and Storyteller from The Adventures of Seucy and Boto

Images from Residency continued exploration of endangered species and human connection.

The initial phase of the Roxbury Residency involved a series of performances and interactive workshops with the local children, fostering creative engagement within the community.

School Based Program at Margaretville Central School

During an earlier part of our residency, we had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the Roxbury and Margaretville community by delivering a performance of The Adventures of Seucy and Boto and the River Creature. The audience consisted of children aged between 4 to 10 years old. Furthermore, we were thrilled to hold a workshop where more than 70 kids participated in creating their own puppets and showcasing their creativity through performances.

Loco7's residency is in partnership with Roxbury Arts Group, is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts - Special Opportunities to Targeted Opportunities, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
