FREE FALLING
La MaMa Galleria, New York, 2013
Free Falling is a mixed media installation that speaks about our natural environment. Composed of sculpture, paintings, sound design, shadow screens, and dance, Restrepo explores ideas of sensorial and emotional stimuli linking us to our natural environment. A series of actions and reactions representing conflict, reflection, desolation and nature—connecting the experience with objects, light and sound.
CLANDESTINE/CLANDESTINO
La MaMa Galleria, New York, 2009
Clandestine/Clandestino is a mixed media installation that speaks about displacement and immigration.
In this exhibition, composed of sculpture, painting, video and larger-than-life marionettes, Restrepo explores ideas of paranoid perceptions, longings to belong, the need to hold on to cultural identity, and the immigrant’s feelings of alienation.
Clandestine/Clandestino is a collage of images on the experience of living in a new culture, exploring the phenomenon of being a stranger in a strange land. In Restrepo’s words, “A Dream that your former world, your homeland, are drifting away and the anguish that this sensation creates, provokes the immigrant’s mental state.”
