Don Quixote Takes New York is an adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote.
Don Quixote Takes New York will be an intuitive voyage that transports the audience through Quixote’s emotions, from memories of his past home life, to when he moves out of his familiar surroundings and travels through the City, seeing the new perspective this unexplored world offers him. Don Quixote and his friend Sancho Panza with travel the five boroughs of New York on a quest to save the world from evil forces and protect the children from monsters. We want to show the audience that no dream is too impossible to obtain and that with hope and heart you can conquer your fears.
Loco7 aims to cross cultural barriers and arouse a poignant response from the audience made up of children and families from various New York City neighborhoods. One of our objectives is to explore the deep feelings that all people go through as we journey the ups and downs of everyday life. In the reimagining of this classic text, with puppets, dance and music, we follow Quixote while he explores New York City in his quest for love, honor, liberty and justice for all.
